Corrections Policy

We publish corrections in public, on the article itself, because a reader who shared a wrong story deserves to see it fixed.

How to report an error

Use the contact page and put “Correction” in the subject line. Include the article link, the sentence you believe is wrong, and — if you have it — the source that shows the correct information. You do not need to be the person or institution we wrote about.

What happens next

  • We acknowledge corrections within two working days.
  • We check the claim against the original source and, where needed, with the people quoted.
  • If the claim is wrong, we fix it quickly. If it is contested rather than wrong, we explain the dispute in the article.
  • We add a dated note at the foot of the article describing what changed. Silent edits to factual claims are not allowed.

How corrections are labelled

Correction — a factual error we introduced. The text is fixed and the note says what it said before.

Update — new information or a later development that changes the picture. The original reporting stands; the note explains what is new.

Clarification — the facts were right but the wording could reasonably be read as saying something else.

Serious errors

If an error is serious enough to change the conclusion of a story, we correct the article, add the note at the top rather than the foot, and consider whether a follow-up piece is needed.

Removals

We do not delete articles to hide errors, and we do not remove accurate reporting because a subject dislikes it. We will remove content where a court orders it, where it creates a concrete safety risk, or where it was published in error and has no news value.
